Современное понимание проблемы и осознание вариабельности клинических проявлений при данном заболевании привело к изменению устойчивых представлений об облигатном наличии бесплодия. В структуре клинических симптомов СПкЯ бесплодие составляет не более 20% при абсолютном преобладании первичного бесплодия [1, 2]. Более справедлива концепция снижения фертильности при СПкЯ, олигоовуляция— причина рождения малого количества детей в семьях больных.
